There will be a 30 minute window between 10am and 10:30am for you to start whichever of the three challenges you have chosen.
It is up to you when you start within this time period. If there are a lot of people all looking to start at the same time, then a pulse system will be in operation, with a number of people set off at a time.
The event takes place at Cannock Chase in Staffordshire
Address: Birches Valley Forest Centre, Birches Valley, Rugeley, Staffordshire
Post Code: WS15 2UQ
There will be signs from the road directing you to the correct turn in.
There is ample car parking spaces available on hard standing terrain. Please note that Forestry Commission car parks are pay and display and will be charged at local rates, so please bring change with you.
Each participant (or pair) will be given a ‘dibber’ at registration which will be used to calculate the scoring for each of the challenges.
At each check point you reach, you will need to insert the ‘dibber’ into the relevant control box to confirm your score.
At the end of the challenge, your total score will be taken from the ‘dibber’ to determine your finish position.
All ‘dibbers’ must be returned at the completion of the event or your score will be declared null and void.
Results will then appear on The Route website within five working days of the event.
There will be a manned baggage area within the Registration area. Please note that we cannot guarantee the safety of any item(s) left in this area. All baggage shall be left at the owner’s risk. Given the proximity to the car park, we suggest all belongings are left securely in your car.
Unfortunately there will be no changing facilities at the venue. Please arrive ready to participate and bring appropriate changes of clothes for after the event.
Medical support will be present on the course and at the finish. You should be relatively fit and have no known medical conditions. Please note – do not run with a cold or flu. This can be extremely dangerous.
Toilets will be available within the event hub and close to the start / finish area.
Participants will be issued with water on the completion of the event. For anything required during the event, please bring this with you.
Hot food and drinks will be available for purchase at the venue.
All participants will receive a medal for taking part in the event and a bottle of water at the finish.
Prizes will be issued to the top three finishers in each of the three challenges (Route Breaker, Route Camp and Route Runner).
There will be a photographer at the event capturing as many shots as possible. These will be made available via the event’s social media feeds after the event. If you take any photos yourself while out on course or after you finish, please share them with us on social media too.
